Workshop for costume design in theater and film

Sat + Sun | November 7 + 8, 2020 | 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.

A two-day introduction under the direction of Silvia Albarella into the world of theater and film costume design for students, drama teachers, amateur theater teams and for all those who work with costumes and would like to get an insight into this profession.

The various aspects of costume design are analyzed by using different costume designs and styles as examples and illustrated by means of slide shows and the examination of concrete costumes. With the help of warm-ups and playful work with colors and fabrics, you will be tempted to design a costume picture on your own. In addition, the participants are also introduced to other practical work, such as mask design, coloring and patinating.
Finally, the result is documented with photos. If desired, figurines can also be designed, gladly also with the help of collages.

The course takes place in our stock of costumes at Kunstquartier Bethanien. At the moment, the collection contains about 15,000 pieces, which are available for trying out and fitting during the 2 days.

The course takes place in a small group (max. 5 persons), applying the rules of distance and hygiene.
