TEXTILE TOUCHES OF ESCAPE AND MIGRATION

We are happy to welcome the project TEXTILE TOUCHES OF ESCAPE AND MIGRATION by Irene Schüller in our textile workshop in October and November. The workshop, led by fashion designer Amanda Glücks and art therapist Nina Ryba, invites you to express your own personal experience as well as engagement with the themes of escape, migration and integration through the design of a piece of clothing art. It does not matter from which angle you approach the topic, whether you yourself have the experience of flight and migration behind you or are primarily observing, and whether you are an artist or a layperson. The artworks created will be made available for other people to try on in a final presentation and exhibition. By slipping into someone else’s “second skin”, a dialogue and exchange is created. Participation is free of charge.

Summer festival at the Haus der Statistik: Allesandersplatz at Alexanderplatz

What actually is the “Allesandersplatz”? A place of community and cooperation! The Haus der Statistik introduces itself and the Kostümkollektiv is part of it: Which projects are currently already here and what is the outlook for the future? In knowledge transfer workshops we want to share what we have learned from the process so far, in workshops we will continue to learn together and learn new skills. The evening will be rounded off with a theater and concert program at OTTO.
When: Friday, July 21, 2023 | 3 – 10 p.m.
Where: Haus der Statistik, Otto-Braun-Strasse 70/72, 10178 Berlin

Free places in our textile workshop at Alexanderplatz – from now until December 2023!

We are looking for co-users! In our textile workshop at Haus der Materialisierung (HdM) industrial and household sewing machines are unused half the week. Long-term participation is especially welcome, as we need to introduce and organize access. Independence in the use of the machines is required. Projects with a primarily economic purpose are excluded.
For orientation, just drop by our open Open repair and alteration workshop: every Tuesday and Wednesday between 3 and 7 pm.

SK Freie Szene e.V. introduces itself!

The SK Freie Szene e.V., a network for scenography, costume and visual arts with a focus on the independent performing arts, was founded in 2022. Central topics are the visualization and networking of costume designers, scenographers and visual artists as well as their qualification and job placement. The focus is also on the topic of sustainability and the testing of resource-saving production processes in teams. In 2022, they published a specialist reader that summarizes problems and approaches to solutions.

These topics are to be worked on further in 2023/24. To this end, they would also like to expand their cultural policy work and the promotion of young talents, and are interested in new partnerships and collaborations. In addition to the specialist reader, there is now a very active network group and a freely accessible knowledge collection for costume/scenography that is continuously updated.

The SK Freie Szene e.V. welcomes contacts and networking!
Contact persons (board) are Katharina Becklas and Estrella Jurado
