The textile market is the fourth largest contributor to environmental destruction in the EU and causes living conditions that are dangerous for humans and animals. Textiles that are “inexpensive” for us end up in illegal landfills and pollute our water and air. That’s why we invite you to book a workshop for your group or class on the background of fast fashion and how we can behave more sustainably.
With our environmental education project “Fast Fashion and How Can We Do Better?”, we offer free workshops on the fashion industry and upcycling clothing. The workshops include both playful, interactive engagement with the hard facts of the fashion industry and practical, creative craftsmanship or playful styling. We can put together an offer for you based on your needs, group size, time frame, and participants’ requirements. Your workshop can take place at the Weinmeisterhaus – Youth Culture Center Berlin-Mitte or at your premises.
Groups of up to 10 participants can also be accommodated in the costume collective’s textile workshop. The Fashion Expedition Quiz starts in a shopping area, such as Alexanderplatz, and ends in a suitable nearby room with further interactive programs and/or practical activities. If you feel like transforming old clothes from the street, you will need two days, as the clothes have to be washed and dried. This is easily possible at the Weinmeisterhaus. The workshops are held in German, but can also be held in English on request.

Temperature, humidity, and the right techniques – it’s not rocket science! Clothes often only reveal their character after ironing, and this is the only way to get them into shape. Master of home economics Agnes Waedt shows what is important and teaches the basics and the most important tricks. She will answer individual questions; please bring an example garment with you to receive specific advice. The workshop will be held in German.

What are the special characteristics of working within the independent performing arts community for stage and costume designers? In this workshop, artists (scenographers, artistic directors and performers) will receive information that will make it easier to begin working in and move through the professional field as well as help for the calculation of a scenography budget. When registering to attend, we do ask you to send specific questions and/or projects (concept, sketches for the set design and costume design) in advance. In German spoken language, it is possible to ask questions and make comments using English spoken language.

Postponed: Runway Effekts &Upcycling – Workshop for transmaskuline joung folks, fokus on BIPoC

Get ready for an amazing start to the year with our first workshop in Berlin! Join us for an exciting session on Runway Effects and the art of upcycling to elevate your style. Within the project “Fast Fashion – and how to do it better” of KOSTÜMKOLLEKTIV, we’ll have a fantastic space where creativity knows no bounds. Don’t forget to bring along a clothing item you’d like to personalize; we’ll also provide some pieces for you to work with and make it FAB! 
Allow us to introduce our incredible facilitator: Charm Grace Louboutin is a Berlin based artist and designer focused on upcycling and experimental garment transformation. Their work centers fashion as a playful, expressive process, turning existing materials into bold, performative pieces with character and story.
This is a workshop for BIPoC transmasculine folks (including transmasc, GNC, binary & non-binary transmen). We especially invite young people aged up to 27 years old. It will be held in english mainly.
The Workshop is hosted by Calvin @cal.crm and Kostümkollektiv and funded as part of the environmental education fund by the Bezirksamt Mitte Berlin.
